Cleanups
Since 2016, WhyTrashEarth has been actively removing, documenting, and properly disposing of waste across a wide range of environments.
Every piece of trash is photographed and recorded to ensure accuracy, transparency, and long-term usefulness.
Documented Work
To date, tens of thousands of individual items have been removed and cataloged. Each entry contributes to a growing dataset used to better understand patterns, materials, and environmental impact.
This work is ongoing.
Why Documentation Matters
Cleanup alone addresses the surface. Documentation allows the problem to be studied.
By recording each item, we are able to identify trends, trace sources, and provide useful information to both public and private sectors working to reduce waste.
Data Access
All collected data is made available for public use.
It is free, open, and intended to support anyone working toward better environmental outcomes鈥攆rom individuals to organizations.
Beyond Removal
Not all items are simply discarded.
Whenever possible, lost or valuable items are returned. Usable materials may be donated or redirected appropriately. Each situation is handled with consideration and intent.
Cleanups & Collaboration
WhyTrashEarth has both organized and participated in cleanups across multiple regions, often working alongside local communities and partners.
These efforts continue to expand through collaboration and shared purpose.
